New Maine Firearms Laws Taking Effect

Wednesday, September28th a number of Maine firearms laws finally became active. These laws were signed by Govenor LePage some time ago and have now come to pass.

LD35 – Parking Lot Carry” – An Act Relating to Concealed Firearms Locked in Vehicles, would prohibit an employer from allowing an employee with a valid concealed firearms permit from keeping a firearm in the employee’s vehicle as long as the vehicle is locked and the firearm is not visible.

LD446 – Out-of State Law Enforcement-  An Act To Allow Law Enforcement Officers from Out of State To Carry Concealed Weapons, would allow a law enforcement officer or retired law enforcement officer who is a resident of another state to carry a firearm in Maine without a permit to carry a concealed firearm.

LD1347 – State Park Carry – An Act Relating to Locations where Concealed Weapons May Be Carried, would eliminate the prohibition on concealed carry permit holders carrying a concealed firearm in state parks and historic sites, premises licensed for the consumption of alcohol, state property under the jurisdiction of the Department of Public Safety and the Legislative Council.
