I found this article today at Maine Wire. “Who Are These People, Anyways?” It is an opinion piece that talk about the origins and goals of the Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense and Everytown for Gun Safety (I am not including the links but cause I do not want to give them the traffic, search them if you want). In full disclosure, the writer of the article, Lars Dalseide works for the NRA.
What does it boil down to? Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense starts charter organizations in every state funded mostly from Everytown for Gun Safety which was started by New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg to push his gun control agenda. There has been many allegations of fraud about the whole petition action of the Moms and others here in Maine. But they have sold themselves as a grassroots organization, even though most of the money comes from out of state.
I grew up in Upstate New York and I my family and many friends still lives there. I have heard about all the things these control actions have done to the state. You make your own decisions. This is a failed solution to a problem Maine never had, criminals do not get firearms through legal channels, states with this have proved it does not have an effect (the state of Washington has only had one person denied), it is a way for other states to control Maine (New York continues to blame New England states for its problems). Look at all the out of state influence that was used in 2014 with the vote to change bear hunting laws. Maine does not need out of state solutions to problems Maine does not have.
